about Nicole Brandt
Attorney
I was born and raised here in Yankton, and I have lived here my whole life. I started learning wonderful work ethic and perseverance from my great-grandpa John. That hard work and a newfound passion to succeed continued as I became part of the working class and gained employment with my grandma Joyce at her local flower shop, my dad Jack at his land surveying company, and various other jobs.
I obtained my undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and Accounting from Mount Marty here in Yankton in 2014. Then I attended law school at the University of South Dakota School of Law. After my first year of law school was complete, I decided I wanted to further my Accounting degree, so I became a joint degree student. During law school I was the treasurer for the Native American Law Student Association. I received my Master of Public Accountancy and Law Degrees from USD in 2017. I joined the firm in April of 2018.
PROFESSIONAL EMPHASIS AND EXPERIENCE
My area of practice is general in nature, offering services in criminal defense, family law, business law, tax law, property law and estate planning.
PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
I am licensed to practice law in South Dakota and Nebraska. I am a member of the South Dakota Bar Association, Nebraska Bar Association, and Yankton County Bar Association. I am also on the executive committee of the Tax Section of the Nebraska State Bar Association and a member of the Nebraska Criminal Defense Attorneys Association.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES AND INVOLVEMENT
I love coaching young children in sports, so I am currently a volunteer coach for the Yankton Soccer Association and Yankton Youth Baseball Association. I enjoy participating in legal clinics, and recently participated in one sponsored by the Yankton Domestic Violence Center and the USD School of Law Family Law and Child Advocacy and Women in Law groups.
